Artist Statement

Using an unobtrusive style, Nanine brings a photojournalistic approach to her work that is fresh and creative. She has turned her lens from news photography to family and child portraiture and fine art botanical and landscape imagery. She tell stories with pictures, celebrating special slice-of-life moments to be treasured through the generations. Her botanical, flora and landscape images create intimate connections to the natural world.

A highlight of her 25 years in photojournalism was winning the Pulitzer Prize for Spot News Reporting and numerous national awards. Her clients include The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Charlotte Observer, Cooking Light, Organic Gardening, South Park Magazine, PNC Bank, Allstate Insurance and Kipp Charlotte. Many prominent Charlotte and Washington DC area families have commissioned her for their family and child portraits. Nanine has also taught Photojournalism courses at the Knight School of Communication, Queens University, The Art Institute of Charlotte and private Photography/Portrait workshops.
