Friends of Heinz Refuge (FOHR) is excited to announce this year’s photo competition, "Nature in Focus 2026”, celebrating the beauty and diversity of the natural world found at the Heinz Refuge through the lens of photography. From breathtaking landscapes and stunning wildlife, to intricate patterns and textures found in nature, we encourage you to explore the endless possibilities of capturing the essence of the natural world.
The Adult Division is open to photographers 18 and older. There are no restrictions on the type of camera - film, digital, cellphone - used. Whatever your skill level as a photographer, we invite you to showcase your talent and passion for wildlife and nature photography.
- All photos submitted must be shot within the confines of the Heinz Refuge.
- Adult submissions are $30.00 for the first 3 photos and $10.00 for each addtitional photo with no limit on the total number of photos submitted.
- FOHR Members may submit their first 3 photos for Free with coupon code. Coupon Code may be obtained by email request to FOHR@FOHR.com or by requesting it in-person at the FOHR Nature Store.
- Prizes: 1st, 2nd and 3rd Adult Divison photos will receive cash awards; additional cash prizes will be awarded for Best in Show, Best Wildlife Photo, Best Nature Photo, People's Choice Award and The Bill Buchanan Award across all age divisions (Children, Teen and Adult).
The top images will be selected from all teen entries and photographers will be invited to submit their photographs for exhibition at the Refuge with a chance to receive cash awards. Winners will be announced during the Philly Fall Nature Fest in September. Full details available on the FOHR website.

The Nature In Focus 2026 Photography Competition will begin accepting photo uploads on May 15th through July 30th.

Kids and Teens may submit photos for free. Adults may submit up to 3 photos for $30.00 and an unlimited number of additonal photos for $10.00 each.

If you are a member of the Friends of Heinz Refuge (FOHR) you may submit your first three photographs for FREE by applying a coupon code at the time you upload the photos. The coupons may be obtained at the Nature Store located in the Heinz Refuge Visitor Center or by requesting the code by email at: Info@fohrefuge.org.
